Wyoming’s 2021 Making Democracy Work award winners

Geno Palazzari

Jeremy Harder

Geno Palazzari, Communications Manager for City of Gillette, and Jeremy Harder, Gillette Public Access Television Manager, received their engraved awards on July 6, 2021, at the Gillette City Council Meeting. On July 14, 2021, the Campbell County League of Women Voters hosted an Honor Reception for these two men and their guests. Gillette’s mayor, Louise Carter King, says, “They have also pushed the boundaries of what a ‘Cable Access’ studio traditionally provided. When Geno took over the studio, he recognized that people without cable were not able to view meetings and other GPA-TV offerings. He made it a priority to begin streaming all content online on the City of Gillette website. Jeremy has continued this innovative thinking by upgrading to high-definition signal and increasing GPA-TV’s online presence on YouTube.”

Elections 2021

Forum Held for Board of Trustees’ Candidates

Ahead of early voting that started on July 2nd, both the Campbell County League of Women Voters and Gillette Public Access Television sponsored a LWV Candidate Forum at the Gillette City Council Chambers. All 23 Board of Trustees’ candidates responded to League’s invitation and 22 ultimately participated in the forum. Campbell County League members were responsible for preparing questions, notifying candidates, scripting and hosting event. Gillette Public Access Television’s Jeremy Harder and Geno Palazzari, as well as, Gillette College VP Janell Oberlander were, also, key to the success of this single evening event.

Gillette Community College District was approved on August 17, 2021, by Campbell County voters who, also, elected seven individuals to be the first Gillette Community College District Board of Trustees. Campbell County League of Women Voters meets once a month from September through May. During election years, we meet during the summer as well. League offers candidate forums, public informational workshops and programs. We collaborate with the Campbell County Public Library, Campbell County Chamber of Commerce, Department of Workforce Services and other community partners seeking to present information in a non-partisan manner.

Democrat Olive White and Republican Helen Fitch, both prominent community members, joined as the founding members. In 1995, a lunch was held to honor their 25 years of support to the League of Women Voters.
